John Gardner
Former Pottawatomie County Associate District Judge
After graduating from law school in 1981, John began his career in the District Attorney’s office, gaining intensive trial experience before entering private practice, where he quickly built a record of consistent success.

In 1990, he made a defining decision that reflected his integrity and commitment to fairness. Recognizing that many of his cases were being heard before a judge who did not treat individuals with respect, John stepped away from his practice to run for that seat — and won. He went on to serve twenty-five years as a district judge, being re-elected six times before retiring in 2015.

Decades on both sides of the bench have given John a rare understanding of what works — and what doesn’t — in the courtroom. That insight guides every case he takes today.
Now, with a decade back in private practice, John represents clients across Pottawatomie County and surrounding areas in family and criminal law. His approach remains steady and deliberate: listen carefully, prepare thoroughly, and advocate with clarity and conviction.
